Marine Battery Cable | Tinned Copper | 12V & 24V | Per Metre

Heavy-duty tinned copper battery cable for boats, campervans, caravans and off-grid setups. Built for wiring leisure batteries, lithium batteries, inverters, trolling motors and solar, and made to survive the damp, salty conditions that corrode ordinary cable.

Why tinned copper?

Every strand is coated in tin, which stops the green corrosion that eats standard copper cable. It lasts years longer on boats, in engine bays and anywhere moisture gets in.

Which size do I need?

Continuous current ratings as given by the manufacturer.

How far can I run it? (cable length and voltage drop)

The longer the cable, the more voltage you lose before the power reaches your appliance. The current travels out and back, so a 5 metre run uses 10 metres of cable (red and black). The table shows the maximum one-way distance from the battery for each size at 12V, keeping voltage loss to 3%, the standard for inverters, chargers, fish finders and other electronics.

• On 24V, you can run roughly twice these distances.
• For simple loads like lighting and pumps, up to 10% loss is fine, so you can run roughly three times these distances.
• Example: 50A over a 10 metre run at 12V loses about 6.6% on 25mm². That is fine for lights or a pump, but too much for an inverter. Move the battery closer, or switch to 24V.

Distances are approximate, based on the cable's resistance at room temperature.

Sizing tips

• Watts ÷ volts = amps. A 1,000W inverter on 12V draws roughly 85 to 100A, so it needs at least 16mm².
• Check both tables. Pick the size that handles your current AND your cable length. If in doubt, go up one size.
• Always fuse it. Fit a fuse close to the battery, rated at or below the cable's current rating.
